I've always wondered why some people are strongly attracted to anything tiny, while others are left unmoved.  Since I started investigating littleness, I've discovered also that people who do love little things are seldom very interested in why they feel that way.

The jigsaw puzzle background on my original page is meant to suggest that what I'm offering on these pages are observations about miniaturization that may fit into a broader picture--more like a 3-D jigsaw than this background--of how and why littleness matters.  I hope that visitors to this site will be willing to contribute their own thoughts.

  Stories about dolls and dollhouses
Home page
So this part of my web site is for the few who enjoy thinking about this fascination with the miniature that obsesses some of us, or who are interested in tracing back the history of this fascination.  Several of these pages will give you lists of books connected with miniatures and with  littleness, from simple children's stories to abstract theorizing. Nothing in this section is for sale, and there won't be many pictures (for copyright reasons) but I hope eventually to include a few texts that are in the public domain but are not easy to come by.

Ideas about miniaturization

Miniaturizing with words
"It will take me a while to compile all this, but I'm adding to it nearly every day."
--Well, if you've accessed this page lately you'll know that isn't true.  Making actual miniatures has taken up more of my time than writing about them.  So I have neglected these academic pages.  I'll try to update them, and would be glad of any feedback.

Now that the show season is behind me, I plan to get back to researching and writing about the love of little things. I would really enjoy hearing from anyone who enjoys reading and thinking about miniatures as well as making or collecting them.  Please e-mail me by  using the button below on the right.
